A Republican-led measure that would prohibit municipalities in Arizona from from adopting “any ordinance, order or rule that has the purpose or effect of making payments to persons as part of a guaranteed income program” cleared its first hurdle toward becoming law.

The homeless situation in Arizona is WILD. It's an entire population with people that work, have children that go to school and live without a permanent dwelling. This situation is going to continue to grow and the irony? Phoenix has a massive number of unoccupied newly built condos, apts and the like.

@LaNaehForaday @TucsonSentinel Another couple years and I'll be homeless too. My rent goes up $75 to $100/month every year. Meanwhile, my income stays the same. If I applied today, I wouldn't qualify because of the income-to-rent requirement. A new applicant would be facing rent on the same apartment that's $200 higher than what I'm paying.

Some of the one-bedrooms in my complex have four people living in them.
