The chemical DCPA, which has been found to cause health risks to unborn babies, is used in Arizona for weed management in crops. The decision is the first emergency EPA ban in nearly 40 years. "DCPA is so dangerous that it needs to be removed from the market immediately," officials said.

@TucsonSentinel "The EPA cited both the presence of pregnant individuals in fields where the pesticide is applied (noting that unsafe levels can last for 25 days) & drifting spray from crop-dusting applications as putting unborn babies at risk...Farmworkers face burdensome conditions in the fields and often face exposure to harmful pesticides while working to feed our nation..."
It should be noted that this seems to be a risk for those working in & living near fields, not eating stuff they buy
@TucsonSentinel Unless you work on a farm where this is used, don't panic about eating broccoli.
@CStamp
Assuming you trust all farmers to abide by with-holding periods.
Narrator: "they don't".
@TucsonSentinel
@zl2tod @TucsonSentinel Toxicity has to do with dose. Field hands inhale the stuff as it's applied.
@TucsonSentinel If you want to keep the EPA, vote Democratic in November.
The mutagenic poison Dachtal is widely available and approved for use in New Zealand.
The US EPA issued it's first emergency ban in 40 years for Dachtal.
