Recreational cannabis sales still smoking the medical market in 2023 tucsonsentinel.com/local/repor
After nearly $1.5 billion in sales in 2022, Arizona’s cannabis market continues to be robust in the first months of 2023, driven by a growing recreational market, with the medical marijuana market remaining in a freefall.

@TucsonSentinel Seems we should talk more about this thing that was vilified for most of our lives.

AND - What else are we treating this way (not just substances)?

@TucsonSentinel@mastodon.tucsonsentinel.com medical stuff is very strong (i've seen 3-5 times as strong); recreational is still quite strong compared to the sandwich bags of yore. Gleaning information from medical sales ought to be difficult, as only certain people benefit from the strengths that medical is sold at.

I wonder what the CBD (legal in nearly every gas station in the US) sales figures look like?

As another related data point of interest, what percentage of people sign up / pay for medical because it is the only thing available, and switch to recreational once that becomes available?

I'd be very careful drawing any policy decisions based purely on medical numbers. Do not screw with terminal patients. Do not screw with patients undergoing aggressive cancer treatments, do not screw with people with only opiates as an alternative to "being able to make it through the day without crying in a ball on the floor".
