Tucson Republican state Sen. Justine Wadsack said last month that she "barely" meets with lobbyists after she faced criticism from gun control lobbyists who she refused to meet, but a copy of her legislative calendar shows the freshmen lawmaker meets regularly with lobbyists and special interest groups.

Term limits insist that only neophytes make good legislators. Hence, legislators don't know how to draft legislation ("But that's not what we intended!") among other things, so they rely on "friends", which are often lobbyists to "help" them in the new job. Dependency sets in so that they often don't know who is who and this is why I speculate that she said what she did. They weren't lobbyists, they were just friends.
By the time they learn the job and gain independence, it's time to go.
