Concerns that a proposal seeking to restrict drag shows could lead to the criminalization of transgender Arizonans were ignored by Republican lawmakers on Thursday, who defended their approval of the bill by equating drag with pedophilia and calling it “evil” that must be stamped out.

@TucsonSentinel I don't suppose these folks care that the bill would ban performances of Shakespeare as they were originally done, since Elizabethan theater companies used boy actors in female clothes to play women's roles.
@TucsonSentinel Glad that the AZ Republicans are proving that they have the same intelligence as those elsewhere. Likewise, the ability to push completely worthless legislation rather than something that might actually benefit their constituents.
