Foster care kids are often sex trafficked. Many states fail to figure it out. tucsonsentinel.com/nationworld
Foster care children are especially vulnerable to sex trafficking, and a 2014 federal law requires state authorities to screen missing children when they are found to determine whether they were sexually exploited - but some states are failing in that duty.

@TucsonSentinel What does “often” mean? More than 50%? Is it 5%? I see an estimate that 65% of trafficked kids were in foster homes, but that doesn’t say anything about the percentage of foster kids who are trafficked.

This is a very serious issue - I don’t think using clickbait language like “Foster care kids are often trafficked” serves anyone, and can actively hurt those trying to protect these children.
