Any list of important democratic institutions must include the Republican Party. The party's failures in Pima County are adding an extra 20,000 votes to Democrats statewide and that's proving decisive.

Can an anti-democracy party also be "a vital democratic institution?" I'm inclined to say no.
Also not sure how Steve Christy "tends toward legitimate gripes." What was legitimate about voting against canvassing the election? Seems like every time I look at a meeting summary there's something pretty sensible that's a 4-1 vote and he's the "nay."

And between Bannon, Flynn and Turning point recruiting PCs...the GOP has become a party aligned with coup plotters, thieves, evangelical extremists and kleptocrats. They hate native son McCain and coddle Putin and Orban.
