“We wanted to create an authoritative presence in the fediverse, so there was no doubt about who we are,” says Kit O’Connell @oconnell of @TexasObserver. “We also wanted to show we're engaging with Mastodon as a unique social network, not just a Twitter clone.”
@texasobserver.social was created on Nov 18 only days after @TucsonSentinel set up @tucsonsentinel.com. @restofworld is the grizzled veteran creating @restof.social way back on Oct 31.
